Sam Watches Water Boil

Today I will explain watching water boil.

Water is a clear drink that can also become hot enough to make noodles listen. When water is cold, it is quiet. When water is hot, it begins making small signs that it has changed its mind.

First, I get a pot.

A pot is a metal bowl with confidence. It has handles so you can move it without touching the part that has become too serious.

Then I put water in the pot. You can hear the water go in. That sound means the sink has done its part and the stove is about to be involved.

I put the pot on the burner.

A burner is the circle on the stove that makes heat in one official location. You do not put your hand there. Your hand already has enough information.

Then I turn the knob.

The knob is how I tell the stove, "Please begin."

At first, nothing seems to happen. This is normal. Many important things begin by looking like they are not listening.

The water sits there.

I stand nearby.

Some people say a watched pot never boils. That is not true. A watched pot boils, but it does it in a way that makes time feel like it has put on heavy shoes.

After a while, little bubbles appear at the bottom. These are not the big bubbles yet. They are practice bubbles. They are checking the room.

Then steam comes up.

Steam is water that has become air for a short visit.

The pot makes a quiet rattling sound. The lid moves a little if there is a lid. This is the pot saying, "I am working in here."

I do not leave the room for something important on my phone. The water is not a child, but it is also not furniture. It deserves a nearby adult.

When the water boils, the bubbles come up quickly. They do not ask one at a time. They all come together like people entering a school gym.

This means the water is ready.

Ready water is useful. You can put noodles in it. You can make tea. You can pour it over something that needs to become softer, warmer, or more cooperative.

I turn the heat down if the water is too excited.

Then I do the next step.

Sometimes the next step is noodles.

Sometimes the next step is just understanding that I have successfully made water louder.
