Hello. My name is Sam.

Today I will explain West Tosa getting a Kim & LaVoy before East Tosa from the perspective of a man who lives in East Tosa.

That man is me.

Tosa is one place, but it has parts. East Tosa is the part where I keep my shoes, my couch, and many of my usual turns. West Tosa is also Tosa, but it is farther west, which is how names can help.

A business is a room where people turn on lights and ask if you would like to pay for something. A new business is a room that has recently opened and started keeping regular hours.

The business today is Kim & LaVoy.

Kim & LaVoy is a law firm. A law firm is a business where people help other people when the rules have become too serious to hold alone.

I learned about this from my phone. My phone received a message that said West Tosa is getting a Kim & LaVoy before East Tosa. A phone is useful because sometimes it delivers neighborhood news before the mail has found an envelope.

I read the message carefully.

It did not say a law office. It said a Kim & LaVoy. That is different. A law office is a kind of place. A Kim & LaVoy is a law office with names on it, people answering to those names, and probably a parking lot everyone has already discussed.

West Tosa getting one first is news. It is not bad news. It is not good news. It is news from the west side.

The direction is west.

From East Tosa, I must look toward West Tosa in my mind. I picture a building. I picture an office. I picture a door that opens toward legal help. I picture a person walking in and saying, "Hello, I need assistance with the legal part."

That is what law firms are for.

Adults do not always need a lawyer. Sometimes adults need a sandwich. Sometimes they need batteries. Sometimes they need to sit in the car for one small moment before going inside.

But sometimes the rules become too many to sort on your own. Then a lawyer is a person who knows where the rules are kept.

This is why a Kim & LaVoy is a major business happening.

East Tosa does not have this particular happening yet. East Tosa has other things. East Tosa has corners, houses, restaurants, stop signs, and the places where I already know how the lanes work.

West Tosa now has the Kim & LaVoy happening.

That is okay.

A neighborhood is stronger when it contains things you may not personally enter. It means more than one errand can happen in the same town.

When I return to East Tosa, I bring the information with me. I say West Tosa got a Kim & LaVoy. I say East Tosa did not get it first. I say this calmly, because geography is not a contest unless someone starts counting.

Then people can decide what to do with that information.

Some people may say, "Good for West Tosa." Some people may say, "When is East Tosa getting one?" Some people may simply nod because they are still working through what a Kim & LaVoy is and whether it comes with chairs.

It probably comes with chairs.

Most offices do.

That is West Tosa getting a Kim & LaVoy before East Tosa from the perspective of a man who lives in East Tosa. I hope you find your corner of the sky.
